What is lawfare?
Lawfare’ is the strategic misuse of legal action to harm a political or business opponent. It is increasingly associated with activist groups bringing costly legal challenges against businesses and government policy.

What is a class action?
A class action is a lawsuit brought by one or a few individuals on behalf of a much larger group who have the same interest in the alleged claim. Rather than each person filing separately, the court allows one case to represent everyone.

Why is it damaging to businesses?
For businesses, often these claims are brought by opportunistic law firms – backed by anonymous funders – who tie businesses in lengthy legal battles, and the costs are then subsequently passed onto customers, driving up the cost of living.
